Activate NemID

What is needed when activating your NemID

When activating your NemID you need three things:

  • Your NemID-number, which you will find in your welcoming letter
  • Your temporary password, which you have received by mail or in a text message
  • Your code card, which you will find in your welcoming letter

You have 10 minutes to complete activation.

Therefore we recommend that you prepare yourself by reading this entire guide and deciding on a personal password and optionally a self-chosen user ID.

If you have ordered NemID through your bank

If you have ordered NemID through your bank, you must activate your NemID through online banking.

If you need help, contact your bank.

If you have ordered NemID online or at a citizen service centre

You activate your NemID through self-service.

The first time you log on with NemID, enter your NemID-number (9 digits), which you will find in the welcoming letter, as the user-ID.

Enter your temporary password, which you have received by mail or in a text message, as the password. You may also have received the temporary password through your bank or at the citizen service centre (borgerservice).

Create a personal password

Choose a personal password. You will be asked to choose a four-digit password, but you have also the option to choose a password with at least six characters.

Choose a password with at least six characters (both letters and digits)

 

 

Choose a 4 digit password

Self-chosen user ID

Create a self-chosen user ID. This is optional.

Enter code

Enter a code from your code card. On the screen 4 digits are displayed. Find the 4 digits in the # column on the code card.

Next to the 4 digits there are displayed 6 digits - that is the code.

Your NemID is now activited

Next time you will log in, you can as a user ID use:

  • Your CPR number
  • Your NemID number
  • Your self-chosen user ID
